Help & FAQ
Everything you need to know
Getting Started
How do I invite my partner? +
Go to Settings → Workspace → Invite by Email. Enter your partner's email and tap Send Invite. They sign up using that same email and will automatically join your shared workspace.
How do I set a monthly budget? +
On the Home screen, tap Edit next to "Monthly Budget". Enter your total amount. You can also set individual category budgets — leave blank to skip a category.
How do I add this to my iPhone home screen? +
Open the app in Safari → tap the Share button (↑) → tap "Add to Home Screen" → tap Add. It will appear on your home screen like a native app. Your partner does the same on their phone.
Adding Expenses
How do I add an expense? +
Tap the + button (bottom right on any screen). Fill in the amount, merchant name, category, date and who added it. Tap Save. It appears instantly for both partners.
What is Quick Add? +
Quick Add is a fast numpad for logging expenses in seconds. Tap the Shortcuts tab → Open Quick Add Now, or set up a Siri shortcut to open it with your voice.
Can I scan a receipt? +
Yes! When adding an expense, tap 📷 Scan at the top of the form. Point your camera at the receipt and tap Capture. AI reads the merchant name, amount and date and fills them in automatically.
How do I undo an expense I just added? +
Shake your phone immediately after adding an expense. A prompt will appear asking if you want to undo it. You can also swipe left on any expense in the Expenses screen to reveal a Delete button.
How do I import from my bank? +
Go to Expenses → Import. Download your transactions as a CSV from your bank's website (look for "Download" or "Export" in your account history). Upload it here — the app auto-detects the columns and imports everything.
Budget & Tracking
What is Safe to Spend? +
Safe to Spend shows how much budget you have left, broken down to a daily amount for the remaining days of the month. It accounts for budget rollover if you enabled it.
What does the Pace indicator mean? +
Pace takes your current daily spending rate and projects it to the end of the month. On track means you will finish under budget. Slightly over means you are close to your limit. Over pace means you are heading for an overspend.
How does budget rollover work? +
If you enable rollover (Settings → Edit Budget → Roll over unspent budget), any money you did not spend last month gets added to this month's budget. Great for months where you were frugal.
How do I add recurring expenses? +
Go to the Yearly tab and scroll to the Recurring Expenses section at the bottom. Tap + Add. Set the amount, title, category, frequency (weekly/monthly/yearly) and next due date. The app creates the expense automatically when the date arrives.
What is the What If? simulator? +
Tap What if? next to the budget Edit button on the Home screen. Drag the slider to see how much you would save annually and over 5 years if you cut spending by that amount per month.
Charts & Reports
What charts are available? +
Home: Donut chart (spending by category vs budget), calendar heatmap (daily spend all year), category budget bars
Yearly: Treemap (category spending), 12-month stacked bar chart, Day of Week chart (which day you spend most)
Yearly: Treemap (category spending), 12-month stacked bar chart, Day of Week chart (which day you spend most)
How do I look up spending at a specific store? +
Go to the Yearly tab → Merchant Lookup. Type any store or merchant name and tap Search. You will see total spent, number of visits, average per visit, top category, last visit date and recent monthly totals.
What is the Year in Review? +
A Spotify Wrapped-style swipeable summary of your year. Go to Settings → Year in Review → Open Year in Review. Swipe or tap through slides showing your biggest month, top category, favourite merchant, spending stats and more. The final slide triggers confetti!
How do I export my expenses? +
Go to Expenses → Export or Settings → Export. Choose CSV (opens in any spreadsheet app) or Excel (.xlsx). Select current month or a custom date range.
AI Features
How does AI auto-categorise work? +
When you type a merchant name in the expense form, the app suggests a category automatically. It uses a built-in database of 50+ common merchants first (instant), then falls back to Claude AI for anything it does not recognise. Tap the purple suggestion bar to accept it.
Where are the AI spending insights? +
A teal banner appears at the top of the Home screen with a rotating AI insight. Tap it to open the full insights panel with 3 personalised observations. Also find AI budget recommendations in Settings → AI Budget Recommendations.
Wishlist & Goals
How do I use the Wishlist? +
Tap the Wishlist tab (heart icon) → tap + Add. Add a name, emoji and optional target price. Tap the circle next to any item to mark it as got — triggers confetti! Completed items move to a "Got it!" section below.
Siri & Shortcuts
How do I set up Siri shortcuts? +
Go to the Shortcuts tab (lightning bolt icon) for full step-by-step instructions to set up "Hey Siri, add an expense" and "Hey Siri, check my budget", plus location automations and weekly reminders.
How do I enable notifications? +
Go to the Shortcuts tab → Push Notifications → Enable Notifications. Both partners need to do this on their own phone. You will get notified when an expense is added, budget thresholds are hit, or bills are due.
Privacy & Security
How do I set up app lock? +
Go to Settings → Security → App Lock and toggle it on. Set a 4-digit passcode. The app will ask for it every time it opens. Your partner can set their own passcode on their phone — it is stored locally and not shared.
Can I use light mode? +
Yes. Go to Settings → Appearance → Light Mode. This is stored per device — your partner can keep dark mode while you use light mode.
How do I add custom categories? +
Go to Settings → Custom Categories. Pick an emoji, type a name, tap Add. Your custom categories appear everywhere alongside the built-in ones.
